History

When learning History at Voice, students will analyze, synthesize, and evaluate historical information through diverse perspectives, and examine historical accounts (in film and text) for evidence of bias. Through various media (e.g.; artifacts, journals, letters, architecture, statistics, fieldtrips, interviews, original documents, maps, illustrations, print materials, videos, drama, discussions and debates) students will explore historical events and themes outlined for each grade in the Ontario Curriculum.

The past will not be seen as disconnected from the present, nor will the present be seen as irrelevant to the future. Thus, an understanding of our current conditions (social, economic, environmental and political) will lead students to uncover the past, envision probable and preferred futures, and formulate ways of becoming ‘change agents’.
