Theatre

The Theatre program at V.I.S. is uniquely dedicated to the academic study and practical application of theatre.

Instruction entails coaching and lectures in combination with theatre workshop sessions and field trips. These provide opportunities for practice and development of approaches and skills in areas such as playwriting, theatre design, theatre history, production, journaling, improvisation and costume design.

In connection to the academic study of theatre, students will engage in a process of performance that includes introductory theatre and skills in acting, script analysis, characterization, scene building, elementary skills in vocal development, elements of theatrical movement, belief and believability, and the development of stage-sense.  The theatre program at Voice is an integral part of an overall performance model whereby dance, music and drama work in synergy to create an all encompassing Performing Arts program.
